Craving Change™ is a FREE "how-to" workshop series focusing on helping you change your relationship with food. It will help you understand why you eat the way you do, and comfort yourself with food. It aims to help you change your thinking and change your eating.

The Better Sleep workshop promotes better and a more restful sleep. During this FREE, 5 week group session you will learn strategies to help relax your mind and body, to decrease insomnia, and to fall asleep or back to sleep easily.

Dial It Down- Relaxation and Stress Management

During this FREE, 5 week program you will get the opportunity to practice and develop strong skills in releasing body tension, calming and focusing the mind. Techniques are especially helpful in the self-regulation of headaches, muscle tension, insomnia, pain, anxiety, and panic attacks.

Diabetes Fit

This FREE exercise program is for adults at risk of, or  diagnosed with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. It is a12-week program with 2 sessions per week, led by YMCA certified exercise professionals. Sessions include education and exercise designed to help you get started with exercise and healthy eating.

Diabetes Self-Management Workshop

This is a FREE 6-week workshop that was developed to support those living with Type 2 Diabetes, and their families, to manage their diabetes and includes goal setting to help participants start and maintain lifestyle changes.

Small Steps for Big Changes

Small Steps for Big Changes is an evidenced-based FREE counselling program designed to help make lasting diet and exercise changes to lower your risk of developing type 2 diabetes.  6 sessions of 1-on-1 exercise and dietary change counselling with a trained coach over 4 weeks.  Accountability check-ins with your coach at 12 and 24-months following completion of the program.

Managing DIabetes in Ramadan

The month of Ramadan is coming soon.  Fasting during Ramadan is just not a religious practice; it is a chance for self-reflection and spiritual growth.  Managing diabetes during this special month can be challeging for people living with diabetes. Please join Dr. Ahmad Raed Tarakji and Dietitian: Yumna Khan to learn how to manage diabetes safely while fasting to balance health and holiness.

People living with type 1 diabetes who are planning on attending post-secondary education this fall or next are invited to a a free education session.  Attendees will learn more about:

  • Navigating food choices on campus

  • Campus Supports
  • Diabetes Hope Foundation programs, resources and scholarships

Sickkids Hospital Research Trial - Transition to Adult Care

 

Are you someone who lives with type 1 or type 2 diabetes in youth and are currently transistioning to adult care or have recently transition from pediatric to adult care? If you answered yes, please consider taking part in this worthwhile research study. SickKids would like to speak with people living with diabetes between the ages of 18-24 years or their their caregivers. The goal is to gain a better understanding of your experiences with transitioning from pediatric diabetes care to adult diabetes care and establish a set of key quality indicators for a good transition experience while ensuring high-quality care.
